Our taste buds can taste only certain things, like sweetness, saltiness, and bitterness. Most taste, comes from smell. Plug your nose while eating let's say, a pizza and you'll notice a difference!

Just why do you taste what? If it's chocolate, you do it because it's delicious. If, on the other hand, it's brussels sprouts, it must be because you never have before or you'd know better.
