1.2 million+ miles. I have a friend who delivered pizzas in high school with a '90 Honda Accord and he had 1,200,000 miles on it and it still ran great.
Also, I saw the 300K figure thown out there a few times. That is pretty typical mileage.
Have a mechanic check it out before you buy (not the salesman's mechanic either). Any vehicle can be worn out, even a Honda. Have the mechanic look closely at the CV joints, undercarriage, and the CEL. Ensure there are no trouble codes.

You're obviously getting a lot of answers from Honda fans. The car will not last forever. Look at it as a worst case scenario. Even if the Honda was badly maintained. It should last to 200k with little problems. After that major work will need to be done. So a 96 EX with that many miles is gonna last you another 2 years or so. I wouldn't put 5 grand on it.

I have a 1996 Honda accord with 350k miles. Ive taken good care of my car and i know i can probably get another 300k out of it. Im not a "Honda head" or anything like that. Any car will last as long as its taken care of.

YOU NEED TO PAY A MECHANIC TO LOOK AT THE CAR and assess its current state. This could cost between $89-$100 but is well worth the investment.
YOU NEED TO ASK THE SELLER FOR AND REVIEW ALL MAINTENANCE RECORDS ON THE VEHICLE. This should be shown in the invoices the seller will furnish for your review.
The vehicle might last in the 210,000-230,000 range if well maintained. But the car is already 10 YEARS OLD, so it is in its twilight years.
Buyer beware!

Its not unusual to see 300,000 miles, however how will the rest of the car hold up? Hondas seem to rust badly right behind the rear wheelwell, and this is not fixable. It opens right into the trunk. You can have a wonderful running 200,000 mile car,but if its rusted out or other things are falling apart...all you have is an engine.

you will probably not be able to get an answer for this but it would have alot to do with the maintenance of the vehicle. did the previous owner take care of the car, not beat the car, do all the regular scheduled maintenance on the car. these are things that would make a difference in the length of time will last, not mileage

As long as the Accord has been properly serviced and maintained throughout it's life you should be fine. Honda make one of the most durable engines in the industry. It could easily make it to 300k miles as long as it is properly maintained.

no.. I bought a 95 with 99K on it for under 4K. if it was well maintained, it may go to 200K plus, but I would spend my money on a new, lower mileage civic or something. The 96 Accords were dogs anyway in terms of horsepower and fuel economy
