I got two Phoenix bronze candle stands, both have marked “made in Italy” on the base, someone told me that it was manufactured at the beginning of 20th century. Is it correct?

After World War 2, the United States started requiring imports from other countries to be marked with the country of origin.

So, it is likely that your candlesticks were made after 1945, and most likely after 1948 and the Marshall Plan.

Could be. Italy did not become a united country until 1861 --

What about Leonardo da Vinci----1452-1519....famous painter , sculptor,architect,engineer, and scientist.
A lot of his works....made in italy
