The Moon is slowing down the Earth's rotation rate! That's a good one.
This happens because the Moon deforms Earth's ocean envelope into approx. oval (in a 2 dimensional cross-section). This is where tides come from. The Earth is spinning under the envelope and tries to "spin" it at the same rate. However, the ocean envelope wants to line-up with the Moon a certain way and when it is pulled out of this alignment by the Earth. However, the Moon pulls back and hence the Earth and Moon play tug-a-war. Since the envelope isn't spinning at the same rate as the Earth, friction is causing the Earth to slow down. At the same time, the Moon's mean orbital distance is increasing.

I knwo it affects how long the earth takes to rotate. At first the earth rotaed once every 6 hours, but the moon is slowing us down. We now take 24 hours to make one rotaion on our axis. and later in a few million years it will grow to 30 then 40 and so on. Good luck that is the most important thing, Also the moon affects alot of animals like turtles and when they lay thier eggs. They only lay on new or full moons.

There is a wealth of research. Just because you haven't read it doesn't mean it hasn't been conducted. The ocean is massive (it has a lot of mass) and the moon is massive. You, as a person, are not massive. So, lunar affect is small.

Exist also "tides" in mountains: when the CERN people built their accelerator in the Swiss mountains near Geneva, they had to take care of the torsion of the rock caused by the moon when they arranged the function of their big supraconducting electro magnets.

It stabilizes the Earth's axial tilt. Without the Moon to stabilize it, it is believed that the current 23 degree tilt that causes the seasons would change chaotically over million year time scales, severely changing the seasons.
