If we don't want them in our country, why should they allow us into theirs?

Pastinky, you should be a P.R. person for our border patrol because you lie so passionately and (almost) convincingly.

Boy do I agree with Sparks!

Many uninformed answers.

No one mentioned that there are large numbers of American living in Mexico.

"That place is a complete s%$& hole. I know you can drink underage and buy trash from street vendors for next to nothing, but I just don't get what fascinates people about that country."

Billy, apparently you've only been to areas near the border, the worst part of Mexico. I am not underage and rarely drink and I do not buy trash from strret vendors. Many of Mexico cities in towns have a rich cultural life. Take a look at some of my photos linked below.

Whether it is Mexico or the US... or indeed most countries in the world.... illegal immigration is NOT wanted. And despite what some might think, there ARE illegal US immigrants in Mexico!

Most countries around the world have great difficulty not only legislating immigration, but also enforcing it. Anyone who has traveled and entered another country can describe the sometimes labyrinthian systems that they have encountered. There are different regulations for visitors, short term workers, long term workers and those who actually want to settle and live.

Although some people don't like to admit it, countries today exist in an interdependent world... and not only because of oil. Most countries are loathe to ban citizens, products, or companies from other nations because they understand the long chain of repercussions that can occur.

Our challenge in today's world is how to balance what each country needs from the others with the internal needs and national goals of each. This is NOT easy and there are no easy answers.

In short, it is highly unlikely that Mexico would forbid all US citizens from entering.

Oh, please...eventually the illegal immigration problem will be solved. Tourism is important to Mexico and many Americans live there and contribute to local economies. There are many laws in Mexico that Americans must abide by especially owning real estate...but its a big business, especially along the Baja California coast. There's more to the border states than underage drinking and cheap trinkets. Grow up, people.

No offense, but this sounds like a flaming question.

You are comparing apples and oranges. We don't want illegal immigrants in our country, not visitors that come for a couple of days to a week and than go home. That is what we do when we go to Mexico.

Technically, Mexico can't close its borders with the US because of NAFTA. Since tourism is a commodity, it would be a violation of NAFTA. Also the tourist industry wouldn't let the government do it in the first place, it a billion dollar a year industry for them.

My friend, I live in Mexico and I love my country. That guy that said nobody wants to come forgot the fact that the 3rd biggest source of national incoming is tourism, and almost 80% of foreign visitors come from the U.S. So I guess that's not gonna happen, thank God for that.
And do not forget to visit Cancun, specially if winter in your town is too cold!

Hope it helps.

It's not a matter of not wanting Mexican nationals in the United States it's a matter of illegal immigration. Mexican nationals as well as others from other foreign countries such as China and such, need to come into this country legally. It's the illegal immigrants that is the problem.

As far as Mexican's not wanting Americans in their country, well I'm sure it would hurt their economy greatly considering all the American tourists who travel to all parts of Mexico via car, plane and cruise ships yearly. For me, it wouldn't make a difference as I've never really had a desire to visit Mexico. But then again, I've never really had a desire to visit Hawaii either. It's just not a destination I've been interested in seeing as far as vacationing.

But to reiterate, it's not the matter of keeping Mexican nationals out of the United States, it's the matter of the illegal immigrants that come into the U.S.

10/03/06: Hoss, what do you mean I lie. I haven't lied about anything I wrote. If you think I lied about the Mexican economy being hurt if American's weren't allowed into Mexico, that's not a a lie. It's just like passports being required at the end of this year to enter Mexico, Canada, Jamaica, all of the Caribbean. I'm sure requiring everyone to have a passport to enter these countries is going to hurt their economy because not everyone wants to fork up the money for one. I've read several articles that have said the Jamaican government is afraid it would hurt their economy. If you think I lied about not having a desire to visit Mexico, it's not a lie, I have no desire to vacation there just like I have no desire to vacation in Hawaii. If you think I lied about not wanting Mexican nationals in the U.S. you are sadly mistaken as I could careless if a Mexican national was in the U.S, just like I could careless if a Canadian, Chinese, Korea, Iraqi, Pakistani, etc. was in the United States, just as long as they were here legally, properly, none of this illegal B.S.

Being in this country illegal no matter what country you are from is just that....ILLEGAL!! It's breaking the law, plain and simple! And again, I don't care what country you are from but if you've come here illegally it is wrong.

So I don't know what you are talking about me having lied. I did not lie in my response to you. What's the saying, oh yeah, if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen. You might want to think about it Hoss before you go calling people liars!

Nobody is trying to stop Mexicans from getting into this country. We want them to stop coming in illegally. We don't hear too much about US citizens trying to sneak their way into Mexico... We do it legally!

If I went over there to soak up their welfare system, Expect them to understand my language, and for them to except me flying MY flag in their country, it would be differant! But how many americans do you know of that do that? I don't have a problem with them coming here if they do it legally and respect my country! If they are coming here illegally to begin with, how many other illegal things will they do while they are here? And they sure as Hell have no buisness flying their flag in my country! if mexico is so freaking great then they need to stay there!!!!
