How do you analyze text when your reading....?

In a novel like cold mountain and huckleberry finn.... help...

I have trouble with that, too. Just think, did you like the way the author wrote the book? Did you like his/her style? Explain that. Also, you can analyze characters... why did they do a certain thing? why did they act a certain way about something?
Ask why something happened and analyze/figure out why.

Well, U first pretend u are the character in the story and what is the characters's goal and the results of the final finish of the story or goal.
