Do you love your dad?

Question

I'm feeling down right now (but better after I typed in my blog...) and it's because of my dad... So, do you love your dad? If so, why? If not, why?

I loved my dad when he was alive, but he has been gone
over 38 years now, and I still miss him even though
I am in my 50's...

I do love my dad, but I will admit that he gets pretty harsh when he's mad, and it really hurts me sometimes. I love him because he knows how to have fun, and he understands that I'm just a teen, and I need my own time and space. He is like a teenager himself sometimes. We ride four wheelers together and he takes me to the mall. He takes my friends and I places, and he lets my friends come over whenever I want (something my mom never lets me do.) He is also a nice person , and he treats my sister, my brother and me all the same, where sometimes it feels as if my mother chooses favorites. When my dad does get angry, I get really mad myself, because he tends to be pretty hard on us, but if he realizes that he mad us upset, he always apologizes. If your dad made you unhappy, just remember that he does love you, and something is probably just bothering him as well. Give it a little time, and I'm sure you'll feel much better.

That's a hard question for me to answer, since my dad left me when I was three and he owes my mother so much in child support. I'm consfued about a lot of stuff--like if he's still with my stepmom and their kids, or if he left. He says he never walked out...but who knows? So, I don't know if I can or ever will love my father.

I have a love & hate relationship with my dad. He's 74 years old now and he's trying to reverse the aging process. He tries everything that is sent to him or on the phone, (he's a telemarketer's dream) that promises to make you young again. He doesn't want to face growing old. The part I hate about him is that he has always been egotisical, vain, rude, obnoxious toward us, his children. He's always only cared about himself. When he was married to my mother he always had girlfriends.I think he doesn't want me to come around him because I remind him of his age or something. On the other hand I love him. Don't know why, in spite of his faults, I just do.

Somtimes when I start feeling sorry for myself, I always try to think of someone who's probably got it worse than I do.

Yea, sure, I love both my parents.

When I was a kid my dad took me to all kinds of sports events, maybe because of that we're never out of chatting topics. I don't say we never had fights, but it never lasted long and basically our family sticks together.

Now that my gf is pregnant of our first baby (and my parents first grandchild) they already bought huge amounts of baby stuff....I think that's great !

He's been gone for almost 4 years and as my father I guess I loved him, as a person he sucked. But that's something I have to deal with.

i lost my dad 11yrs ago.i miss him every day.he is still my idol & the person i most want to emulate & im 35.keep loving him coz some day u will lose him & it will break ur heart

Completely - and I can't even tell him because he is dead - don't let anything go unspoken with your dad - so many regrets let to live with if something should happen!
