I'm 26, a law student, and I still don't consider myself to be "grown up". :) I really don't consider people grown up until they sacrifice themselves for something else (either family or career). I have done neither of those and I have no plans to do so.

I am 23 and from England.
I only recently felt trully grown up when I let old hang ups go and put the past behind me. Doing this also helped my relationship - I fully trust him even though this was hard innitially. It paid off as we are now engaged and expecting our first child.
So for me being a grown up is when you can move on from painful things in your past and focus on a future that you carve out for yourself. Not letting go is immature as you can not go forward whilst living in the past. Growing up is all about moving forward.

Being an adult is not a matter of age, rather it is an attitude of mind. I found that I only considered myself an adult after both of my parents had died. Similarly I will only consider myself old when my contempories are dying. Sorry this is so moebid.

When I turned 40 years of age. I'm not sure why, I just felt that I was as adult as I was ever likely to be at 40.

I considered myself to be grown up from about the age of 13, and thought everyone else was so unfair for treating me like a child.

I left home at 18 and then thought i was so grown up taking responsibility for myself, at this age I laughed at myself for thinking i was grown up before!!

At 20 I moved in with my boyfriend and then realised that just having my own home didn't make me grown up, but now i was part of a couple in our own home i was finally grown up!!

At 25 I gave birth to my son - that's when i really grew up!! Being responsible for another living being, making sure that they grow up well balanced, healthy and fulfilling their potential, and putting thought of yourself to one side - that's maturity.

I'm English and 37.

Good luck with your assignment

I personally think your never grown up mentally. Physically you grow up when you hit puberity but when do you feel like a grown up? Well, when you no longer go out and have fun with friends, when you work hard and no one gives you any help with money or housing. Thats when reality hits and you feel grown up :P

When I understood the meaning of "The second mouse gets the cheese." (Impatience will kill you.)

An adult has nothing to proove. (His world is within.)

An adult can be put down anywhere on earth and he will be at home. (His education is universal.)
