how easy is it to find a job as an accountant with a casual dress code? i'm not asking to come in wearing ripped jeans, i just think it would be nice to be able to wear a golf shirt or a dress shirt without the tie. what type of places have a casual dress code for accountants? if possible, name companies.

It will not be easy. A position as an accounting clerk would be much easier to find. People pay a tremendous amount of money for the services of an accountant, and expect them to look professional. Perception is everything in the business world. Perhaps you could start your own accounting firm, and YOU could set the dress code.

It's hit or miss. It will be hard to find a list of companies that have a casual dress code. Unlikely if you are in public accounting and meeting with clients. Should be able to tell when you go on interview. But frankly, that would be a bad reason to turn down a job.

Lots of places nowadays are business casual, but certainly never interview dressed any way except the old suit and tie. Look around at the people when you come in to interview, you'll see how they normally dress.

I don't know. A lot of companies have a periodic causal day. My thoughts are why would it make a difference? Aren't you more interested in making a large salary? If so, then go to as quality a job site as possible, dress accordingly, and take your tie off at night.
