Here on the Jersey Shore it is called Doo Wop, when I lived in North Carolina it was simply called Beach Music. It is the music from the 50's and 60's

I was on a date way back in high school with a girl I will always love and we were driving down a beautiful lakeside road here where I live enjoying the summer night and the music coming from the local AM station.
The moon was crisp and the sparkling on the lake when "Love Is Blue" by Paul Mauriat came over the radio. It's an old instrumental song circa 1968.
I pulled the car over fast, ran around to her side of the car, and gently yanked her outside and began to slowdance with her to this beautiful ballad.
It was a moment I'll never forget. This gorgeous, tender young lady wrapped in my arms while we danced in the summer breeze.
The rest is my heart's secret but ever since that time, I've loved dancing to anything romantic.
Just felt like sharing that, so thanks.

I like swing-dancing with my husband to music from the 40's, 50's and 60's. Jazz & rock-n-roll are best for this.

We both learned how to do this when we were kids, because we had older brothers & sisters who taught us.

Did you see the scene from "Blast from the Past" where Brendan Fraser was dancing with 2 girls at the club? That was the kind of dancing we do and it's fun!!

We also like doing the stuff we did as teenagers in the 60's.... the twist, the skate, the monkey, the frug, the jerk, the pony, lots of those kinds of rock dancing, to music by the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Dave Clark Five, etc.

i happen to like ok go, cute is what we aim for, panic! at the disco.

i'm not really a hip hop person, so bands like that, who have a bit of a techno-ish sound, are pretty nice.
