John Madden is a clueless doofus who never says anything that really adds to a broadcast, and Al Michaels - while a great play-by-play guy - does not mesh with Madden at all. Could there be LESS chemistry between them? Thing is, Michaels is so intelligent, his only real equal in the booth since ABC fired Dan Dierdorf and Frank Gifford was Dennis Miller. And Miller didn't know enough about the game to be much of an asset in that way.

Announcers who know the game as well as Madden and bring the color to announcing he does do not exist. Al is OK and has a pretty decent repitoire of knowledge in the football announcing field. Remember Joe Namath getting hammered on Scotch in the booth on MNF and that idiot from Saturday night live Dennis or something. Now there's two pitiful announcers. John and Al are by far two of the best in my book, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion

Have you heard Joe Theisman lately? What about Bill Maas? Theisman is a total idiot. Tony Kornheiser spends more time making fun of JT than he does calling the game.

Bill Maas just has no idea what is going on. John Madden & Al Michaels don't spend as much time covering what goes on on-the-field as I'd like, but when they do they typically get it right.

Everthing John Madden says is either incoherent, about Brett Favre, or something I already knew. Al Michaels, given some leeway, is only a crazy drunk because he has to spend four hours in a booth with a rambling fat man.

because you are on some weird drugs. They are the BEST announcing duo, and have been that way for years. Why do you think NBC picked them up? Al was ready to stay with the Disney Network, not to work ABC football, because it's dead and gone, but to go over to ESPN and work the monday night games, but he wanted to be with his pal Madden. Now, both are there, and they are a great announcing team!

I don't dislike Michaels, but Madden has become a joke. He's been saying the same things for nearly 30 years, just using different names. "Boom" has to be the stupidest thing anybody has ever come up with as their catchphrase. Madden should have hung it up when Summerall did.

They are the greatest pair of announcers there currently are. the ESPN guys are a bunch of deusche-bags (tony, joe, and the other guy........especially tony --I liked on the double header when the 2nd game had Jaws and Verimiel tho). And most (not all) of the guys on the afternoon games are nobodies or just not anything special.

NBC should have got MNF not reget ESPN. They ruined it. Sunday is the new Monday (even the games ---eagles-packers, WTF? eagles are meh and packers suck --Bears-Seahawks would have been the much better match up).
