How much do they make in residency? Is it more or less than a non-military residency? What is their starting salary after residency? How much do they make 5 years out of residency? 10? Can doctors go on reserve like other members of the armed forces and hold a civilian job? If so, how much do they get paid for being on reserve? If you could provide a source or anything that has information on military docs that would be great.

Like the civilian world, this is somewhat dependent on your specialty. Surgeons, particularly trauma surgeons, plastic surgeons, anesthesiologists do fairly well, but make somewhat less than their civilian counterparts. Of course, if they have gone through military residency, they have diminished how much they have to repay on student loans, so it does help it balance out.

With family practitioners bottoming out in both the civilian and military pay grades for doctors. Probably around 100K after residency, depending on how much time you are willing to sign up for. They are willing to give some nice pay incentives for enlisting and re-upping.

What is rather disconcerting to doctors in the military is the ego games played by non-doctor superiors. They can and do make life H-E-double hockeysticks for many doctors, leading to many not re-inlisting. That, and the fact that the military in general, is so tolerant of, and actually amused by, their own inefficiency, many surgeon types cannot take it too long, as their very souls need efficiency as a basic nutrient.

A fraction of what they would make in individual train. The most effective constructive is that they do not have got to fear approximately malpractice coverage. NO you possibly can sue the government. and count on to win.
