Well, actually, E-Bay is a place where all the rip off artists love to find the suckers.

Pity you got taken.

However, it's not impossible to get your money back. The FBI has a Cyber Crimes Divn. where you can file a case of cheating and get the culprits apprehended.

Since you must've paid for it by your Credit Card, your Credit Card Company will be able to give you the whereabouts of the reciepient of the money and that's all the FBI needs to have to nab the perp.

All the best.

Cheers.

I've had a problem with ebay and their seller for 9 months now but I think my situation is the exception.

Here's what I'm told...report your problem immediately to eBay rswebhelp@ebay.com and report it to the seller too and they are supposed to solve it within 30 days. They have support you can contact by email, they have attorneys (who never answer), Square Trade (outside of eBay for negotiating problems between you and the seller but you have to pay Square Trade first online with your credit card for them to take the case), You can always write a letter to the Better Business Bureau about this person if they are a company, or report them to the attorney general your state (call them and write them). Also check the website where you bought it from (did the ad say it would be missing the motherboard?). Write the seller a letter plus have a certified mail return receipt on it so you will know they received it. Hopefully you have not yet given feedback for them yet (a notation on their account). Do you have a receipt for the check you wrote (money order or Visa receipt)? You'll need it for proof of purchase. After you've done all that, get back with me and tell me the results you get. In addition, there is a question and answer forum type discussion group where people will give you suggestions on what to try to get satisfaction. Good luck.

EBAY only acts as a place where you can look for and buy items, sort of like an on-line flea market. If you have a problem, you need to take it up with the seller.
Be sure to mark a negative response on the seller's profile. I think if they get enough negative response, the seller will be denied access (but that doesn't prevent them setting up a new profile in a different name).
Also, if you made your payment through an escrow instead of direct to seller, this allows you to inspect the item before payment is released.
Sorry you had your problems, hope you can get it settled.
Oh, if it purchased was from a business and not an individual, also report them to the Better Business Bureau in the town they operate out of, and if they have a website that shows member of the on line BBB, report there also.

eBay is the largest online marketplace and one of the most popular ways to earn an income from home with a PC and internet connection. Selling on eBay is inexpensive and easy to start. Ebay has a number of tools for sellers to maximise sales. These are eBay Pulse, Hot items report, merchandising calendar. By sourcing products at a low price, you can increase your profit. $280 is cheap for a computer but a bit high for a box with no mobo. Did the ad say a mobo was included? Sometimes you must read the ad carefully. If they propmised you a working computer, you may have recourse through EBay, they try to keep crooks out.

well contact the person you bought it from and see what the problem is most eBay sellers are very trust worthy and will accommodate you every time a person sells on eBay the buyer has a chance to leave a report on how the transaction went and all people doing business with that seller will see how it went for you and will make a judgment on weather or not to do business... I have bought and sold thousands of items on eBay and 99.7% of the time they were very good

You must use discretion in what you buy. I personally have used ebay alot but I only buy items that are simple (shirts, stickers, hats etc). I now know never to buy big ticket items as you can be screwed over, but I thought there were ways to get your money back. That is a total rip-off.

I've had over 3,000 transactions on ebay with barely a problem (both buying and selling). The key is to always buy from a reputable seller and not to buy risky items.

You can get your money back.

Did you pay by paypal? Put in a complaint. If they don't side with you, contact your credit card company.

Did you pay by another method? Sue them. You can take them to small claims and get your money back.

If you start a suit, they might just finally give your money back. I'm assuming you already asked for a refund from the seller?
