I am 36 weeks pregnant and a couple of days ago I started spotting. I went to the doc. and they said everything is okay I am just starting to soften and thin out. However, today I have had very sharp pains down in my pelvic area. Especially when he moves. It feels like I am breaking down there and he's trying to cut himself out..lol. He is moving fine..just really sharp pains and soreness down in my vaginal area. Has anyone experienced this before. I have a doc. appointment in 3 days and I was just wondering till then. I also have been having a ton more of braxton hicks. Thanks for your help.

Call your doctor and make sure they don't want you to come in before your appointment. My experience was similar but i was farther along, I have a friend who is having this issue right now and she is 36 weeks as well and her doctor told her not to worry unless her water broke or she was contracting 3 min or closer together! Hope this helps!

I'd say the pain in the vaginal area is from the softening and thinning out of the cervix. That's the opening the baby is going to go through. It's opening up, and you are feeling that. You are also feeling the pelvic area making room for the baby in the lower area. The baby drops down a few days before delivery and you are feeling that.

It sounds to me like your body is doing everything necessary to prepare you for a reasonably short labor. Your water will break soon, and then you will be heading to the hospital for a very normal delivery.

I spotted also w/my 2nd child on my 36th week. I called the Dr and she said everything would be fine. The vaginal pressure is normal and you probably will be getting more braxton hicks as your due date approaches. Back pain is also normal. I'm not sure if you ever have menstrual cramps but your first contractions will feel like that first soft then stronger. You might also feel back pain as well at the same time. I know that people might tell you that you'll definitely know when you're getting contractions. I thought that was a dumb thing to say but it is true. your pains will start getting stronger and stronger. I was due on june 25th and had my baby june 26th. The reason I went to the hospital even though my contractions were not strong was because I spotted and I was past my due date. The dr told me that if I spotted to go the ER right away but this was only as I was getting closer to the due date. The dr will start giving you more advice of what to expect and if you're still not sure go to www.babycenter.com and you'll find lots of good info there.

During normal labor there is a break from the pain in between contractions. During back labor, there is no break, just constant pain like you've never imagined. Trust me, you will know the difference. The pain in your pelvic area is probably due to the fact that the babies head in positioned very far down to prepare for labor.

Welcome to the world of back labor. Its going to feel like your body is being torn in two starting at the tailbone. Its that pain that when you have a contraction, you feel something you were never expecting. I experienced this and the bleeding. For me, I was losing my mucus plug. Everything is OK, if it becomes unbearable, call your doc. Best wishes and God Bless

Dude, i think you're in labor. Wait and see if you have contractions. When they get5 to 10 minutes apart (depending on how long of a drive) go to L and D. Good luck and congrats! What are you having?
