They were mostly from what is today Asia. After glaciers melted and left a huge land bridge connecting Asia with North America and they just followed the Ma moth and other beasts that they pr aid upon for survival as the animals came across so did they and many just followed them and stayed and then other ways to sustain their lives farming and following the bison.

The same reason all parts of humanity were migrating in those days, the search for good hunting areas. Later, like other communities, they developed farming and settled in the Western Hemishphere. Native peoples have been living in their homelands longer than most other populations, for example, Europeans who are relative late comers to their geography.
