I get a red light blinking on the DSL, I want to hook it up being charged because I bought it on my own and can not get it to work. When I try to run it and check the connection I get, "DSL Down"
Can anyone walk me through to get it to work. I have a new computer also.

you may not have a problem with the modem, but a problem with your telephone line.

We brought a belkin modem and no matter what we did it wouldn't syncronise to the internet. The problem was, was that there was an analogue small chip in the junction box to fix previous cross line problem and then the tech removed it and we can hook up to the internet from then on.

That red light tells me you don't have dsl. The ilec may not have completed the cross-connects to give you dsl.

Did it come with a manual? Typically, you can attach to the modem to configure it from your browser, at something like http://192.168.1.100 but the address varies with every brand of DSL modem.

You will need to tell it your account name and password, which you get from your DSL company.

Well, you might need a geek to make a house call... Won't your DSL provider help you?
