For me at least, it's a way to know and understand the view from the each individuals different from mine. Some people just gives answer which is not really good of answer or good crtical opinion to what I have to offer, but I do sometimes encounter a great answer that sometimes perceive to makes sense where it seems to be illogical.
Also while I was visiting California, I visited Yahoo Corporation. Sorry if the picture was blurred, due to confidential issue/non-disclosure I can only put front office photo and had to blur out picture. I was hoping to meet the people worked on Yahoo Answer, but unfortunately the office I visited was different department. As for the Yahoo, Yahoo Answer is just one of their tool for marketing purpose as well as attracting people such as myself in myspace for their internet traffic boost.

Simply put, for me it is about people - meeting, wondering, joking and sometimes learning with them.

From Yahoo's point of view, it must be a failed experiment - they were trying to build some massive database of knowledge that they could sell by picking the brains of the general population, but they have learned the hard way that "the masses are asses"!

I use it to exercise my right to freedom of speech and to express my opinion.
Occassionally, I even learn something and am granted the opportunity to consider another point of view when I review the answers of others.

Aliens and politicians scheming together to learn our strengths, weaknesses, and preferences. When the Mothership comes to suck out all of our brains, they'd know whether to send George Bush, Bill Clinton, or Ralph Nader -- and what cookie to distract us with while they attack the vac-u-suck to our skull.

(Don't tell anyone I'd succumb to Bubba with a plate full of fig newtons)
