Universal solvents are good at disolving a lot of things. But for some substances, a specific compound works better. Alchohol is not a universal solvent, but it is good at what it does.

I think water is the universial solvent, isn't it? It is called the universial solvent because it can dissolve lots of thing, but not all the thing.
