I actually just did that. I had to renew mine when I was 8 months pregnant and it was horrible. Several months ago I went in and told them I hated the picture and I wanted a new one. They charged me $25, the cost of a new one as opposed to a replacment one. It was worth every penny.

You can you just have to pay for it.

If your local DMV has some rule against getting a new license just because of the picture. Put your license through a paper shredder then tell them it was destroyed. Just don't tell them you destroyed it, he he. They have to let you replace then. You will still have to pay for it.

You can tell them that you lost your current one, but that seems like an awful big waste of taxpayer resources. Why not just keep the old one for a while? I don't know anyone who has, like, a glamour shot.

You can get a better picture of yourself simply by having a friend take a picture of you
and then just tape it on to your license

the easiest way to do it is to say you lost your license and pay a $5.00 replacement fee.

Sure. There's a replacement fee, but you can get a new one anytime you want.
