I will be travelling to Hong Kong for a business trip in November, and I'm wondering wether the city will accept USA credit card? If yes, will I be charged for any exchange fee? Thanks.

The answers are yes and possibly yes. Your major company credit card will be accepted at any business that displays the sign. You will be charged on the international exchange rate for the day. It will appear on the monthly bill, showing the amount charged in local currency and the exchange rate of the day used to convert it. There should be no other fee-unless you take a cash advance on the card. Then you will be charged a fee by the exchange office that gives you the money. The exchange rates on a credit card are usually slightly better than the one you get buy exchanging paper money- but not usually a lot better. We live in Korea at the moment, and use our American cards and bank cards without difficulty all the time.

Credit card is accepted worldwide where ever the logo is displaced. Some credit companies will charge an exchange fee for each transaction, other will just add that in the exchange rate. You will need to call them and find out.
I would suggest the Pennisula Hotel for your stay there and don't miss the afternoon tea there as well.

Yes. You do need to notify your bank(s) that you will be traveling outside of the U.S. This way your bank will be aware of unusual transactions.

If you have a debit card with a Visa or MasterCard symbol it should work in Hong Kong. However, you may need to activate the card for international transactions.

Yes they do, I was there three years ago. Gold is a great buy in Hong kong.

I also visited main land China and Macao. Each of these places have their own money, I found this out the hard way.

As long as you have VISA, MasterCard or American Express. The other guys won't work outside the USA. As for an extra fee for the transaction, that will depend on your bank. At least you will get the best exchange rate.
