Like any certain type of brand of dulicer

Yeah, actually I do have a suggestion and I'm not even a dulcimer player. I play guitar and have done so for the past 25 years but I experimented with a dulcimer at one time. I'd say talk to some steel guitar players about different tunings for a 4 stringed instrument and get a glass slide like what blues players of the 6 string use. I learned to play slide years ago and even though I don't use it on a regular basis I know that an open E tuning on the guitar makes slide playing a bit easier to accomplish. Well, steel guitar players use a slide and they have different tunings for the steel guitar. I wouldn't be afraid to bet even that the steel guitar is derived from the dulcimer in some ways.

contact the old town school of folk music in chicago, il on lincoln avenue. i had seen them there. also, call on guitar center and ask them as well.
