I know there are rescues in PA. Search petfinder.com for some. There is also a shelter directory in the back of Ferrets USA. It's awesome that you want to take in a homeless fuzzy!
If you aren't able to find shelter ferrets then try some responsible breeders. You might have to wait awhile to get a ferret but it would be worth it.
The majority of ferret kits sold in petstores are from Marshalls farms. They are a mass breeder that does not have the ferrets best care in mind. They spay and neuter WAY too young which has been linked to adrenal gland disease. Their food is absolutely terrible and they try to make you feed it by making their warranty void if you don't feed their food. Yes, the shelter kids are probably Marshall but at least you aren't directly supporting them.
I HIGHLY recommend that you read "Ferrets for Dummies" by Kim Schilling before getting your fuzzbutts. Also, I'd like to invite you to Everything Ferret, a wonderful community of ferret lovers: http://www.everythingfert.proboards36.com/

I would try to find a ferret rescue, you can search the internet to find one. Or get one of the ferret magazines, rescues sometimes list in there. I used to live near Allentown, and there were many pet shops that sold ferrets. I found the best one over in Bethlehem, behind Northampton Comm. College. Most of thier ferrets came from Marshall Farms, you can tell this from the blueish dot on the ear. Good luck

any pet store should carry them. I recommend making sure that they come from Marshall Farms. They are one of the largest suppliers, a web search will bring up their site and they list the stores and delivery dates for your area. They also have links to ferret shelters around the US. Keep in mind that most shelters do not accept ferrets because they do not have the facilities to care for them properly, and if they do they ship them to special ferret shelters or put them to sleep shortly after receiving them.
They average about $110 for each kit but marshall's de-sents and spay or neuter prior to delivery and also gives the first sets of vacinations.

I used to live in Easton, PA and got my first to ferrets from the SPCA. They do not normally take in ferrets, but they do in some circumstances. They would also be able to refer you to any shelters in the area. It's a very good thing to think of adoption first!
On another note, please know that ferrets are prone to a couple of chronic diseases in their later years and that they almost always require about $5,000 each in medical care. Please plan for this and save for it so that you don't have to euthanize just because of money.
