I have quite a few tattoos which include a flower, stars, a dolphin, a crucifix. It depends what you like. Something small would be good. A particular animal you like or your favourite word. Go in to the tattoo place and check out designs. Or draw something up at home and take it into them. Think about it for a week or so, to make sure its what you really want. The ankle hurts quite a bit since its mainly bone, not a lot of skin, but they look good on the ankle. A good place is the wrist, back, or hip. The pain is well worth it, seeing the beautiful design, tattoos are a work of art. Make sure the tattooist is certified and check out the surroundings, make sure the place is clean and that he uses all clean needles, fresh ink etc. Good luck!!

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A CUTE TATTOO. I RETIRED FROM THE NAVY AND NEVER GOT ONE TATTOO BECAUSE THEY ARE A SIGN OF LOW CLASS PEOPLE. I'M NOT SAYING I'M HIGH CLASS BUT WHY ADVERTISE AND REMOVE ALL DOUBT. ANOTHER THING HOW DO YOU THINK A TATTOO IS GOING TO LOOK TO YOUR GRAND CHILDREN WHEN YOU'RE AN OLD WOMAN???? DON'T DO IT YOU GONNA BE SORRY ONE DAY IF YOU DO.

YUnder your arm or somewhere you can't see it without effort because with in a few years you will tire of it.
BY all means don't get one that is dirty, with someones name on it, because all of that can change so fast and you new love may not like some else's name on his squeeze:).
There are millions of people wishing they had never made that mistake.

For your first tatoo, i would get it somewhere conspicous, like lower back. And probably also small (2inches maybe). Choose something that means something to you after all you'll have it forever. Some ideas: fairy, butterfly, some chinesse letters that signify something like ocean or peace.

I would get something discreet above my right or left shoulder blade, like a small bird or swirly design. That way you can either show it or cover it up when you want.

A tattoo should be something you feel adds to/compliments your body; something you love. Don't ask other people, they don't know you.
If you can't figure out what to get, then you aren't ready for one.

since the tat will be permanent, it shouldn't matter what age you are now . try to choose something you won't regret in the future. when you decide what design it'll be easier to decide where to put it. just consider that some areas are more painful than others.

a lighting bolt on your lower right hip.
you could also get something sentimental to you. like a favorite flower, or a chinese symbol. but make sure to get the chinese checked so you make sure it means what you think it means.
