I found a pandora sphinx moth caterpillar and I want it to spin a cocoon. What does it need? Does it bury itself in the ground?

You can keep the caterpillar in a container with fresh leaves of whatever plant you found it upon (if you don't know what it eats, you may try different plants that seem adequate). Make sure that the container has some cms deep of loose soil, because when the caterpillar is ready to pupate, it will become restless, stop eating and move around until it finds a good spot to burrow and bury itself. The pupa looks like a brown scat-like thing.
There it will remain for some time; exactly how long it takes will depend on the time of year and how advanced the season is (from a couple of weeks to some months).
If you're lucky and it's a female, once it emerges as an adult it will release pheromones, and you'll have a "boyfriend" male visiting within the first 48 hs.

Wow in which on the planet are you studying this? Because that could not be further from the reality! Most men and women with allergy symptoms react MORE to hairless breeds considering that there may be not anything among them and the dander. So no - a Sphynx could be a HORRIBLE alternative for anybody with allergy symptoms.
