I think most of my earrings are sterling silver, and they keep getting all brown/black and rusty looking! I even splurged on some earrings coated with white gold, but the same thing happened to those earrings.

Does anyone know the name of an earring material that will NOT do this?

I have two cartilage hoops that I have never taken out, for about 2 years, and they are in perfectly fine condition - no rust, darkening, or anything! I don't know what material they are, though.

get either surgical steel... (that stuff will take a beating and most aren't allergic to the metal)

gold... real silver.

titanium...

that stuff will work.

sterling silver is a very cheap form of silver and will tarnish, turn black and become brittle with use. many times it will turn skin green and cause mild irritation.

the 1st element I do is to get out all the leftovers I even have on the cabinets I then circulate in the process the vegetable bin and notice what's in there i can upload. next I do an identical with the freezer because it rather is a sturdy thank you to do away with luggage that are virtually empty. I often have dried slit peas, pearl barley as quickly as all of it is underway I commence searching for seasons and tastes i can upload. i will infrequently use inventory cubes or inventory as there would desire to be sufficient with the fowl beginning from scratch i might in all likelihood spend ninety minutes engaged on it. I even have an aversion to including tomatoes of any sort, yet it is in simple terms me as they do upload a great style of flavour. Chetak

If this happens with solid gold then it's the PH in your skin that is doing it. Real jewelry is the only way to fly, trust me, you are worth it.
The only solution is after cleaning and polishing the earrings to coat them with clear nail poish so your skin doesn't get in contact with the metal.

Surgical steel, gold and silver won't tarnish. Nickel and copper always will - even if it says they're gold or silver plated. Claire's has inexpensive surgical steel styles that won't give you any problems.

Stainless steel, titanium, and gold (not gold plate) should not tarnish. Sterling does tend to tarnish, and sometimes your skin can react with it to make the problem worse.

If it were real silver or gold, you would'nt be having that problem. You got stuck with some fake, cheap jewelry.
