You can't "turn off" it but you can pause it by pressing A and B together.
If it's for a long time you can take out the battery, but FIRST connect with some one so you won't lose information (it saves info every time you connect.). I turned the battery upside down so I wont lose the battery.

The battery will eventually die but if you press the 1st & 2nd buttons, it will pause. Unless it's the 1st and last buttons

You can't if you lose the paper. UNLESS you take out the batteries.

Put the little strip of paper back in if you can find it (or make another one). Where do they sell those?

I think it will turn off by itself if you don't touch it.
