When I wake up, my stomach is pretty much flat. But, around the middle between breakfast and lunchm my stomach starts to round out and swell. It goes almost back to normal if I haven't eaten anything for a few hours (that is- if I didn't have a big meal before that). I try really hard to keep it slim...but sometimes I just can't. Does anyone know what this is or what it is caused by? Or how to get rid of it? PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Thanks for all the answers.I'll definatley try all of your suggestions. Willing to do anything to stay as flat as I can. Does anyone know how to get rid of it? Preventing it would be easier; but when family comes to visit----how can I get rid of it?

All people have bacteria in there digestive tract, these are normal and necessary. Rarely a persons body perceives these to be a threat and tries to attack them. The body's efforts to get rid of these bacteria cause swelling in the area affected, for me the lower colon. This is known as Crohn's Disease. For me, it causes some swelling, loud stomach noises and frequent bm's 2 or 3 every day. I've had it since I was about 20 but I only recently saw a doctor who finally told me the cause of all of this(I'm 39 now!). I would definitely recommend seeing a doctor just to try to get to the bottom of it, then you can move on with your life as normal. Oh, yeah...for treatment there are different levels of severity, the doc will know. Good luck

You discovered the answer to this question yourself. It all depends on the foods you eat. As food is processed, gas may be a by-product. The gas is going to cause the stomach to swell. I once read that if the great apes (you know what their stomachs look like!), that if they didn't eat for 24 hours their middles would be flat. They eat mostly grains, no meat. My suggestion is to experiment with different foods and note how your body reacts.

your always going to be lighter when you wake up in the morning its just the way your body works...and the only one that really notices it is you...i have the same problem sometimes it really bothers me but the less you think about it the less it will bother you and chances are no one else really notices especially if your stomach is almost flat in the morning...don't try to loose too much weigh it isn't going to make a difference and most men would rather be with a thicker woman then one that's bony *even though it sounds to me like your probably a good wight* lol good luck with it it happens to the best of us

I think it may be your muscles around that part are week. Or poor posture may be doing that to you. Try some tighten your stomach muse ls while at a stop light. when driving or riding in a car. Same thing happened to me also, and I went to the Dr. and she said it was IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) I was have problems with using the bathroom on a regular basis and my stomach would keep swelling or bloating and sometimes would hurt... She prescribed me ZelNorm, which is use for women with IBS and it has helped me with my bloating. You may want to talk to your Dr to see if maybe that is whats happening to you also.. Just a thought. There are also natural remedies you can try also for IBS... Hope this helps.

Could be stress, could be an ulcer, could be irritable bower syndrome. I have the same problem and mine is a combination of the first two. Life is a bummer sometimes! You just learn to live with it or take medicine for the rest of your life. I have a very understanding husband, let go and let God

Definitely watch your salt and sugar intake. Most likely your insulin level is low after eating. Stay away from processed sugars and you will notice a huge difference in bloat ( especially around your waist).
