Fight Songs – Played when the home team takes the field or makes a big play, the fight song can send chills down the spines of the alumni and student body. Crowds go crazy, some pump their fists, others sway left to right, some do pushups will being held in the air by their fellow students. At the conclusion of his last home game at Tennessee, Peyton Manning went over to the band and acted as conductor as the Vol band played “Rocky Top” one last time. It was a moment that will be forever frozen in Tennessee footbal history. The great songs can stick in your head for hours or days. The best fight songs in the country are Notre Dame’s “Victory March” and Michigan’s classic “Hail to the Victors”. As I think of those tunes, I’ll probably be humming them to myself the rest of the day now and I don’t mind at all.
