Anyone help with diagnosis?

Manual trans grinds when shifting and sometimes won't go into gear, this happens in all gears, if you rev up the engine at a stop then it will go in gear but sometimes will still grind.

Does this sound like a clutch problem or inside the trans

look underneath do you see oily film on the back half of the gear box? Those pesky rubber shift rod plugs three of them could have leaked out all the transmission oil causing the imput clutch shaft to weld to the main shaft. Transmission makes noise until you go to fourth gear right? If you pull the fill plug out of the gear box and stick your pinky finger in and cannot touch gear oil damage is already done. Now pull the fill plug and find gray smelly burnt gear oil with hard metal particals. New transmission could cost 1,300 dollars then installation and new clutch. So after spending the total value of the 10 year old truck.

this model has a hydraulic clutch. Check the fluid in the master cylender of your clutch..(small resevoir next to your brake master cylinder) If it is low...you can try adding fluid but your slave cylinder is probably leaking. The slave cylinder is located at the transmission...on the left (driver's) side of the transmission. It can be identified by looking at the clutch fork and the slave cylinder is what actuates the clutch fork. These can be rebuilt but it is much easier to just replace it. Bleed it like you would your brakes...but it takes time...once you get fluid going to it walk away for about 10 minutes then come back and bleed it again. In many cases once you get fluid going through it let it sit over night and it will normally work well.

A grab would not in simple terms end working like that. the main considerable shaft of the trans would desire to smash yet that would not ensue in 5th kit. commence with the stress line, with the engine working and the trans in any kit seem to work out if the stress shaft is popping, if so you in all likelihood have a broken axle no count if it is not turning pull the trans out considering the fact which you achieved broke some thing genuine solid, and you are able to seem on the grab collectively as your there.

Syncronizer is bad if it grinds every gear. Especially if you have to speed shift or shif gears like driving a big rig. I know, I have a truck that had syncronizers problems, I had to shift it like my big rig. Auto Zone usually carries those!

It would seem that you are having clutch problems. This could be related to adjustment, fluid level if it is hydraulic, or worn parts. The clutch is not disengaging completely when you try to shif.
