I am heavy, and have been trying to lose weight. I stay away from those places because you do overeat. I know what you mean, though. My dads ex wife was 430, seriously, and she would spend a good 3 hours or more in a place like that. One hour spent on the desert table. Some ppl just do not know there limits. It is sad, and kina gross. Being overweight is dangerous and these ppl need to get help, fast. Thanks for your question.

All you can eat sets off a trigger that it is OK to go to a buffet, and it is totally different than having second helpings at home. I am guilty of that, myself, and I am not that heavy. but, I do find that when I go back to the buffet table, if I do not get something I had last time up, it is not seconds. At home I rarely have seconds, unless it is chicken stew. At a buffet though, I do only go twice, and the only thing I have seconds on is an egg roll. I have gone with others where they go back 4 or 5 times, and it is all because it is 'all you can eat', and they are thinner than I am.

Not all heavy people go to all you can eat buffets. Sounds like the person you went with is just in that cycle. They hate their body, thus they are depressed. They eat to feel better. Kind of like those who cut themselves I suppose. <_<

It's all about economics.
It's cheaper for them to eat at a buffet than buy something at the store.

Not enough will power. Sort of like how we can't get off of Yahoo Answers.
