i Have a basement all panelled.. my mil smoked 14 years and the paneling is so dull.. i have tried everything on the shelfs so far... is there any old fashion way of cleaning the paneling so that it looks good... any answer will be appreiciated... joanne

plain old lysol disenfecting wipes worked for me. buy a lot and dont be surprised when they all turn dark brown. ewwww! we cleaned a trailer that had 2 chain smokers that didnt leave the house for 20 or more years.

Murphy's Oil Soap -- you might have to wash and rinse several times. Afterward, use a good lemon oil or "Scott's Liquid Gold" to moisturize the wood.

You can try to paint over it the same color.
Or you can scrub it to death.
Or try Mean Green, nasty stuff, takes anything off of everything

the only thing that I've found that works is Spray Nine you can get it at Home Depot.
