nope but it is really suggested. Make an appointment at your nearest planned parenthood. they will definatly advise you to get an exam but they will offer you a consult instead, for a smaller fee. exams are VERY important, especially after you've been on the pill. they help to ensure your healthy...cancer and STD free.

Yes, you have to see a gyno for BC pills, there are other options besides the pill so check with the gyno for the other options as well, the pill has changed in the past 50 years so there may be a good one for you with as little side effects as possible. Good Luck.

I'm pretty sure that 1 pap smear=1year of birth control. I think it's required by law for the doc to give you a pap (they're not that bad) every year that you're on BC.

yes, and it sucks. also, beware, birth control pills are notorious for causing hair loss. You might not get it right away, and your friends may not have it now, but it takes some time. That's what my doctor told me.
