I like to have a laugh at work and get on well with all the customers, no complaints but, my collegue and my supervisor are always complaining, they say I talk too much. I am white/english, My supervisor is Blk/indian and my collegue is Blk but cant remember from where, are they against me for my colour or something?

You should never assume anything just because of colour.
I would like to think that your skin colour has nothing to do with it, and more to do with personality clashes.
Some people don't know how to enjoy themselves and have a laugh- Just because your at work, it doesn't mean that you cant be yourself.
So long as your customers find you polite, helpful and cheery then that is all that matters-
Just be you and you cant go far wrong- Chances are that you will last longer in your job than they will because you enjoy it and don't have an attitude problem.
Don't worry about them Hun :o)

Theyre proably just jealous that they have crap personalities and cant talk to people so easily. They might think that your not doing your job properly, have a chat with them ask them waht is wrong with talking to the customers if anything your probably bringing in more customers. Theres nothing wrong with being a nice person, doesnt make others feel intimidated. But you might want to learn when to tone it down if you talk to much.

Stiff upper lip, old chap. Can't have the colonials thinking they've got one up on the bwana, can we? Seriously, before anyone is daft enough to think that first statement was anything other than jest, some people are just jealous that others seem to get on with people they can't get along with. Not racist - just jealous.

If they were against you for your colour, they would be complaining about that and not your talking. It sounds like your chattering is bothersome to them. Rather than look for a hidden agenda, perhaps you would get along better at the job if you took their complaints to heart and adjusted your behaviors. I think that would be respectful of their concerns.

Maybe you are overdoing it. Work is not the place for fun. It is a place of business. Try to keep that in mind and you will do much better. I doubt that it has anything to do with the color of your skin.

Seems like it. As long as you are producing good sales, it's no biggie. Threaten to leave if they keep pesering you (and follow through on it!)
