I am 13 and have never had my period before. I have been getting discharge for abou a year now. Sorry if this is gross, but my discharge was brown yesturday and today. It is a light brown. Is it my first period? I had it one day, then it went away. Since it stopped could this be pre period spotting.

I was 11 when I started my period so, this sounds a Little like mine started, First it was brown and the next day it got lighter brown and by the 3rd or 4th day it was red for 3 days then pink and gone. Then I didn't have another one till about 3 months after the first. My periods were irregular for the first year. then ,they were every month for 7days. My mom took me to the Doctor ,cause she didn't think it was normal for me to have such long periods. He said it was normal . my mom had hers on for 3 days. You need to ask your mom about this, but you may not have yours the same as hers. Since all my life has been long periods and I've married with four kids now. the only time I didn't have periods is when i was pregnant or when I was on birth control which didn't help much . I still got pregnant twice on birth control. My daughter started hers at 11 yrs .also so, your not too young and you have the symptoms. Good luck Your just getting into being a woman.

Trust me lovey, you would know if you started. You get cramps like your stomach is trying to flip flop and it will very clearly be blood, but go to the gyno, I know it's kinda freaky but you will get used to it. If it makes you feel better ask for a lady doctor, I did when I was younger. Just be happy your a woman now, even if this part dosent seem like much fun. and also, time to have the birth control talk, cuz hey sweety, even if your not thinking about it, best to know how to handle that now so you dont have to worry about it later! Just remember, every woman in the world deals with it, so it can't be that bad right? Bless you sweetness!

Could very well bee you rperiod trying to start. You can get many of the symptoms including bloating cramps and lots of hormonal changes. However if there is an odor please ask your mom to make you an appointment with an ob/gyn just to be safe Good Luck

it probably is you should talk to your mom or ask her to take you to a gynocoligist. wear thin panty liners while your discharging.
