So, I have heard satellite internet sucks for gaming, and that in turn sucks for me. See I live in rural Oklahoma, a town that has aproximately 1,200 people. I need highspeed internet to play Ps2 and X360 games online (mainly shooters, and sports games). Does the lag/latency issue occur on all games...I really need to know because satellite is my only option. I am only 8,000 feet from DSL...but I can't get it. I need help!!!

Well yeah, but I heard it happens on mainly shooters. Anyway so it's true, it would suck to have it for gaming?

lag and latency via a satellite internet connection is nothing to do with the game(s), it's to do with satellite itself.

namely with online games you're playing against other people so everything you do, and everything the other people playing do, has to be exchanged between everyone - because your connection is slow, you'll likely find that by the time your software receives the latest information and updates within the game that you've been shot.

satellite just isn't up to online gaming i'm afraid.

Do you know the person who has DSL 8000 feet from you? If it is flat and you have a clear shot maybe you can setup a link with radio antennas to your friends house? It could cost almost $1000 to do this but then you could also split the montly costs.

How would you like to pay 3x more than regular high-speed (DSL, Cable)?

When I was searching for an ISP, my satillite TV carrier also offered satellite internet, but for 80$ a month!! I can got Cable for 30$
