Actually, some of the other other posters slightly incorrect. Some types of Holly Bush, for example, are "Evergreen" because they retain their leaves in winter. However, a Holly is not Coniferous. I think all Coniferous plants are Evergreens, but not all Evergreens are Coniferous.

Coniferous trees like pine trees are evergreens. They do not lose their leaves in the winter but stay green instead. If you see it on the ground in the winter it is not a coniferous leaf. It it is a green leaf up on up on the tree it is. Easy enough?

Coniferous trees are ones with cones growing on them (like pine cones, etc.). Coniferous leaves are usually needle-type leaves (like pine needles).
