I grew up in Waco (although I now live near Seattle); it is a pretty quiet town of about 110,000 people. The town tends to center on Baylor University in terms of things to do - music, sports, etc. The Texas Ranger Hall of Fame is located in Waco, as is the Dr Pepper Museum (Waco is where it was invented). It's a rather typical small Texas town with a long history in oil and cotton. Lake Waco is a nice spot to go, as is Cameron Park and the zoo.

A few years back, a group of us were in Waco for a seminar. We asked my boss Bob, a Baylor grad, the same question. "What is there to do in Waco?" His answer was, "We can go see the bear!" So that is my answer also, we can go see the bear.
