No I'm sorry I don't know of any research into this.
But there would be somewhere, ,just do some digging on the net.

But it's an interesting question, people do tend to gravitate to those with similar personalities or (very subtly and quite subconsciously) take on aspects of other's character traits.

not a research per say but i have noticed how one tends to start acting like those they hang around, and that is for those who are followers and not leaders. they tend to take on their personalities and ways. just as they say dogs start looking like their owners.not comparing dogs to your question. just that i have personally noticed that with even my own family members. so i always tell my sons to be leaders and not followers, cause if you dont have a strong back bone to stand on you will fall for anything . my favorite saying is if you dont stand for something you'll fall for anything.

I don't know of research done. But I do know that if you have supportive relationships you will grow and flourish. If on the other hand you have damaging relationships you will gradually move more in to yourself or into something to blank your mind of it (drugs & alcohol)

Even the bible tells us we become like those we hang around. If you want to soar with the eagles you gotta quit pecking with the chickens. They will bring you down if you let them. Hitch your wagon to a star...hang with those you want to be like.

Does that help?
Good luck :)

I think people find either a balance or an equal. In introvert might befriend people who are outgoing because it compensates, or they might befriend more introverts because it is familiar and what they are comfortable with.

You are judged by your friends and the company you keep.
