In order to make pickles, you first need to make a "pickling" liquid. The basic kind is typically made with salt and some kind of acid, like vinegar. Typical pickles are made from cucumbers. Submerge them in an air tight container at least overnight and you'll have pickles!
As you can tell, I know myself pretty well around the kitchen =P

Look on the back of a pickle jar. Google recipes to make pickles so you can see the ingredients. Vinegar is a common ingredient to change cucumbers into pickles.'

Try googling for pickle recipes - you can get the ingredients that way. It also depends on what type of pickles (dill? sweet? sour?...)
