about my selfish mother in law, and now my family/friends are saying that's all I talk about, I try not to say anything when I'm with them, and when they ask about her(which they always do, just to be nice, I know they really don't care to hear my answer), just give a simple answer.
Should I just journal my feelings toward her?
How do I not let her bother me?

Focus on the positive aspects of your life experience and do not focus on her at all. The more you focus on her the more obvious she will be to you, and thus the more discomfort you will feel with her ideas in your head. But when you focus on what makes you happy you see more of it, and your world is a lot more positive.

Journalling is a great idea! Get all your frustrations and aggravations out on paper. Every now and then go back over your notes, and you might find that your perspective about her is changing. You might end up feeling sorry for her if she is that selfish. You might even wonder what is wrong with you to let her occupy that much time and energy and emotion on your part.
Sometimes unhappy people like to pull others into their unhappy space.
