You are very sweet to even think of that. We moms need your love. Why is she sad?
Anyway, how about doing a job around the house without even being asked, like setting the table, tidy up the bathroom, raking leaves, whatever. Then, go and give her a hug, and tell her, "Mom, I really love you. You are so special to me. Thanks for all that you do for me." Or you might want to make her a homemade card/poster that says that. I bet she will love these!

Mommy I Wish
Mommy I wish I could put this in grown up words,
so you would really understand how much you mean to me.
I know I’m just a little girl right now,
and I don’t know all the things you need.
I wish I could pick you up and hold you,
like you do when I’m hurt or feeling sad.
‘Cause I know sometimes it’s hard for you,
to punish me, when I’ve been bad.
I wish I could give you all the things we need,
and I wish I could go to work for you.
So you could stay home and play,
and do the things you like to do.
Mommy I love you, and I’m so proud too,
and wish that all the little kids in the world,
could have a mommy, just like you.
Mommy do you know my biggest wish of all?
for all that you do.
I wish and I pray everyday,
that I will grow up, and be just like YOU.

The nicest things you can do for anyone involve spending time and thinking about that person and doing something special because you know she would appreciate it.
For example, my mom worked when I was growing up. So if I wanted to do something special I would super clean the kitchen and then make dinner so she wouldn't have to worry about it when she got home.
Or I would write her a poem because she liked it when I wrote her things.
Moms tend to like handmade things that we use our own talents to make. Our moms are proud of us, so if they can brag to their friends about something we did for them, it's a good thing.
Just follow your heart, think about your mom and the stuff that makes her smile and then spend your time doing that. It doesn't have to cost a lot of money - in fact moms tend to like the things that don't cost any money at all.
Good luck! I bet you are going to do something that will really make her smile.
