What is wrong with dad? Is he sad? Sick? Why dont you do something he likes? Maybe golf? Fishing?
Is he going through a hard time? Did he lose his job? hard to say as I do not know what's going on so the best thing I can say is hug him tell him you love him and listen to him if he wants to talk.

Write him an IOU for time. Just let him know that you are willing to spend some one on one time with him, this is sure to cheer him up. Everyone wants to be somebody's hero, so let him be yours!

Spending time with a person, asking about them, respecting their boundaries, sharing a chore, making their favorite food, cleaning out his garage?

make him smile,make him his favorite meal,or try setting him up with a hot date with ur mom to left his spirit...,get to know what is putting him down and try fixing the problem.
