I don't know where you got the silly idea that thongs are more comfortable than other underwear, trust me, they aren't. Imagine having something stuck up your butt crack all day - it's not comfy. Also, you are a bit young to be needing to wear a thong. Usually women wear them to eliminate lines in tight clothing - which at 13, you shouldn't be wearing anyway.
But, if you really think that you want them, then talk to your mom before you go shopping and see what happens. But, don't be upset if she says no.

I never wore a thong until I was over fifty, is that too old? It's just under ware.
I used to call them "Butt floss." My daughter told me to wear them because they are comfy. She was right.
Why do you have to ask? Are they more than just underwer to you, then? I never asked my Mom what kind of underwear I could buy and I'm century years older than you. From an age where you had to ask your Mom for everything.

I think you should just come out and ask Mom if it is o.k. I don't know why our children just assume we don't understand things. I have a 15 year old and a 20 year old, they have been wearing them for years. Here's a news flash for you, We as parents fight the big battles and don't sweat the small stuff.

Some people find them more comfortable, I surely don't. If you want one so badly, ask your mom while you are shopping and give her the pantylines bit. But don't be upset if she says no. I wouldn't let my daughter wear one.

Don't ask your mom, go to store with her, discreetly pick thong(s) while picking panties.
Go for it! You will never regret it.
