I'm a very shy person and often don't know how to approach a person I want to talk to. What are some good conversation-starters to get a conversation started?

Ask their opinion on SOMETHING. This will take the pressure off you for a while, and you can gaze at them ATTENTIVELY while you try to find something in their answer to give you another QUESTION to ASK.

After 3 or 4 questions, they will ask YOU a question. Now you're having a conversation!

Topics to ask about:

1. The Weather.

2. Favorite foods/vegetable/dessert.

3. Complementary colors to wear (for them or for yourself).

4. Favorite artist/artworks.

5. Favorite cities or countries.

6. Best weekend this past month or year.

7. Favorite or least favorite vacation taken or vacation spot.

8. Good things to say in job interviews.

9. Nice present ideas to buy for mom or dad.

10. Like dislike (jazz, pop, classical, country) music and why.
