Marriage license should be renewed every 5 years like drivers license? If you don't renew they are no longer vailed. I've been with the same man for 15 years, with 5 children, not getting divorced. It;s just my opinion.

but why? doesnt that kinda make the whole vow thing pointless? like, gee lets get married, and if it doesnt work out we can just not renew our license instead of getting a costly divorce. i think it would kinda cheapen marriage, giving people an easy way out. i think divorces are messy and expensive, and that is good, to keep people from just rushing into something.

I think the issue is the children. If you don't have any, and you want the option to split every 5 years that's fine. But if there are minor children involved, you should be able to walk away that easy.

I disagree!! With driving, its understood, because the government wants to make sure one still meets the physical and mental qualifications to have the privilege to operate a vechile. Marriage vows are, "In sickness and health, TILL DEATH DO YOU PART!!!!

screw that. it would just be another way for the government to get our money. A marriage license is for life, just like the marriage itself should be. so why would you want to spend more money for that?

It sounds as if you want out of your marriage. No, I do not agree. Love and commitment do not expire every five years.

Then it would be hard to settle the things that are settled through a divorce.
