I have the choice between a (1) VS1Clarity, J color, Very Good Polish and Symmetry, and a slight cloud in diamond or (2) VS2 Clarity, K color, Good Polish and Symmetry, and a feather and pinpoint inclusion. Both are "Square modified brilliant" (princess cut). Is one better then the other? Both are the same price.

I should have added... I'm upgrading my diamond from my original (keeping the band for sentamental reasons)...to a larger one and is why I'm involved in the choice!! :)

Comparing clarity, color and cut only, the first one is the better choice. Yet you said they were offered for the same price.
This means that the imperfection of the first one is much more visible than the second one.
Therefore I would say: take a loupe, put the diamonds in bright daylight on black paper and look at them. Which one pleases you most? Which of the two imperfections spoils it most? Which colour pleases you most (if you can spot the small difference)? Make your choice like that, after all it's you who has to wear the diamond.

If he's giving you a choice, than I think that means that he doesn't know what you want. If I were you i'd think about the relationship and where it is going?? A man should NEVER give the woman the choice in what kind of ring she wants. Tradition comes first and the man should pick it out to his best ability and you should be greatful for the ring that he placed on your hand. Trust me, you'll get divorced. Sorry.

I'd go for the 2nd one. The color and clarity are lower, but the same price? That tells me that the 1st one isn't cut as well as it could be. Which means less sparkle and life. Go #2!

i think its nice that hes giving you the choice. it shows that he values your opinion, especially since it will be yours and it is an upgrade of the original. you should pick which ever one you think is more attractive and looks best with the band. if you are choosing based on value, have them both appraised by a professional.

Overall, the VS1 is a better quality diamond. Go with that one.
