i disagree.
many religions use smoking in their rituals this makes it a right.
and i have the right to use tobacco if i chose to...HOWEVER
i still support most smoking bans. especially in areas where kids are subject to it. as a child i had a severe athmatic condition that was set off by cigarette smoke. and even today if i am in a closed space with cigarette smoke it will cause svere coughing and breathing problems. i am allergic to the chemhicals that they add to them.
I smoke Pipe, cigar and Hookah on a regular basis and have no problem with it.
smoke shops and bars and open air outdoor areas are the only places that i think that public smoking should be allowed.
and should never be allowed within 100 feet of a doctors office front door or a hospital front door.
sich people should not have to walk through a cloud of smoke when they may already have severe breathing problems.

You have the right to choose whether or not you need to smoke or not to smoke. You have the right to decline that privilege that cigarette manufacturers give society. Personally i think it's a privilege because without cigarette manufacturers we would not have had the "privilege" to buy cigarette or to be smoking, you have to be realistic they -the manufacturers gave us that privilege but we have to make the right choice -" not to submit to temptation and buy from them". Secondly i think it's very harmful to your health, i know several people who developed lung cancer and died as a result of getting this privilege. Nicotine is a killer and I agree with that phrase entirely.

It's a "right".
Is consuming alcohol until your liver curls up into a hard little ball a right or privilege?
Is engaging in unprotected sex with a stranger a right or a privilige?
Is eating foods high in cholesterol a right or a privilege?
the "right-privilege" argument can go on forever.

As a smoker from age 14 to age 43, I'd say smoking is a early death sentence. I am now 66 and thankful I quit when I did. I watched my Mom 64, Dad 59, and 57 yr old brother die from cigarette related illnesses.
do whatever it takes to give it up.

Personally, I disagree. You do have the right to smoke, and for some it is a privilage, but is it really? I mean some may enjoy it, but is it your "privilage" to die. It happens to all of us sometime, we know that, but smoking can determine when. Is it really a privilage to make your spouse raise your kids because you are unhealthy. Or to make your kids grow up without a mother/father? I don't think so!

I think smoking is a right. It's my body, and I'll smoke if I want to. Funny how it's a woman's "RIGHT" to abortion, but a smoker doesn't have the "RIGHT" to smoke? Typical reflection of today's society! :(
