You do NOT need to stay awake for 48 hours or anything like that! They used to say with concussion that it was best to stay awake but this comes from hospital admissions and the observations that nurses take to check neurological function. If you have a bad headache that hasn't gone away with medication I would suggest you see a doctor as soon as conveniant to you. The lump is an indication of swelling as a reaction to you hitting your head on the wall. It will resolve in it's own sweet time but ice will help. If you are at all concerned that a visit to the doctor is the best option open to you!

It is probably a sebaceous cyst. This is like an ice burg, what you see on the outside is small compared to what is on the inside. It is just tissues that have multiplied in that spot for some reason. Not usually a problem but can be painful and should be removed by your doctor if they are bothering you. It can be removed right there in the office in about a half hour. The dizzy spells and the giddy feeling could be psycho somatic because you are worrying about this. For peace of mind go see the Doctor.

Does just the bump area hurt or your whole head? If your whole head hurts you should get checked out that there was no deeper damage from the bump. Also get checked out ASAP if you get any dizziness or vomiting. There's not much you can do make the bump go away quickly... ice and time are what it takes.

You would really need to bang your head good for a concussion. With a concussion, you have a need to sleep, but cannot because of the injury.

Apply ice, and you should be fine.

you may sleep as long as when you received the lump you did not lose conciseness at the time. take some tylenol or motrin to ease the ache, if you are still fearful of sleeping have someone wake you every few hours
