As a kid, I was very ticklish, and hated to be tickled. It was like being tortured.
Apparently some people enjoy being tickled (in moderation, I assume), but some kids (and my son was one) are picked on during recess by bullies who think it's funny to hold them down and tickle them.
In light of all that, I think it is in poor taste for Tyco to sell the "Tickle Me Elmo" doll that invites kids to tickle it ... because it suggests to kids (including potential bullies) that it is FUN to tickle people ... including those who do not WANT to be tickled.

Other opinions, please?
Thank you.

I agree with all your reasons may I add one of my own? That laugh makes me crazy I find it very irritating [ I have eight grandchildren].

I am VERY ticklish, but i LOVE the tickle me elmo. I don't think it is suggesting to kids to tickle (or pick on ppl). If they want to bully very little can stop them.

very very ticklish. in fact, if you thought about it hard enough and pointed at me, i would probably start squirming and laughing.

it depends on how the tickling is happening. when it was from my teasing older brother, or the uncle who thinks it's funny, it's torture. (tickling is considered a form of torture.) when the person won't stop, i'll kick and thrash and they deserve what happens because i panic and think of nothing but escaping at any cost.

when my guy tickles me, it's in a cute way, very light and he knows not to take it too far. it's affectionate, teasing with respect to my limits. but, if even he took it too far, then i'm throwing elbows out with feeling! tickle me elmo doesn't bother me because i feel it's meant in the affectionate way...although you made me think about it in a way i hadn't before.

I hate being ticked too.

The Elmo doll is uncalled for. Not only does it look like it is having a violent spasm, it encourages tickling, and the plastic eyes are dangerous when children hit each other with them.

I'm moderately ticklish, and I really don't mind being tickled. But I love to tickle other people---though I only tickle people who don't mind being tickled.
