What does the prime meridian do? I need help, haha.
I know it runs through Greenwich, England from which the longitude of east and west is reckonded.
But, whats the purpose?

Well, latitude coordinates have a base degree of zero. This zero degree is the equator. The equator is the center latitude line. FOr longitude lines, there also need to be a base line where the zero degree longitude will be. They've chosen the longitude line running thru' Greenwich.

It's also used to calculate time zones; for example Eastern Standard Time is Greenwich Standard Time -6 while Paris time would be Greenwich Standard Time +1.

Man. it`s used to help to mark places, when you see 1234-245 that means that this place is 1234 far from greenwich and 245 far from equador. and also is used to time-schedule
